Respirator Filters & Cartridges

Your work environment may require respiratory protection because of inhalation hazards from airborne particles, which may include infectious agents. North Safety NIOSH-approved respirators can be used to protect you from these hazards.

Which respirator / filter / cartridge combination is right for your environment depends on many factors. Questions you should consider include:

  • What are the contaminants? Are they gases or vapors, or are they particulates?

Note Note: Sometimes utilizing a pre-filter over a cartridge will extend the service life of the cartridge for several days!

  • What are the contaminant concentrations? How do you discover the level of concentration?
  • If an airline system is required, is it practical, or will a PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) be more appropriate?
